Vision & Mission Statement

Devington Community Charities (DCC) is a subsidiary of the Devington Community Development Corporation (DCDC) whose Vision & Mission is to be a transforming presence in the community. We aim to work hard for the most vulnerable (the economically poor, youth, the elderly and disabled) to achieve economic justice, affordable green housing and health care, safe neighborhoods, excellence in education and jobs creation. DCDC works from the community, for the community and with the community.

Devington Community Charities was born out of the strong conviction that many of the challenges facing our neighborhood residents, can and should be immediately addressed. Also, all people deserve to be treated with the true spirit of compassion and sincere concern; realizing that at one time or other, we all need lifting up.

DCC aims to extend a helping hand free of humiliating beauracracy, and misplaced judgment on those of us who need some backing. We firmly believe that when one does well, we all do well.

A few of the areas DCC will be offering assistance to our neighbors are:

  • Food gift certificates.
  • Health food store vouchers.
  • Utility payments - especially during the winter months.
  • Clothing vouchers - especially for school children or those needing new clothing for job interviews.
  • Rental assistance.
  • Dental and vision vouchers.
  • Prescription assistance.
  • College tuition and books.
  • Alternative health measures, e.g., acupuncture, chiropractor, therapeutic massage, and Reiki sessions.
  • Christmas toys, etc.
  • We will assess needs on a case-by-case basis. Days and times for intake will be made available in the very near future. DCC thanks you for your patronage, and on behalf of those who you are helping, thank you again.
